This magnificent Edwardian manor was originally the family home of John King Ballantyne, mill owner and son of Henry Ballantyne, founder of Walkerburn. The house was built in 1906 as a wedding present for Hilda Moritz . Since taking ownership we have invested in the fabric of the grade 2 listed building and in guest experience. The house has been sympathetically renovated to provide modern facilities while respecting the historical significance of the building. The gardens have been replanted , grade 2 listed greenhouse renovated and kitchen garden reinstated.

Windlestraw occupies a special place in the heart of the Walkerburn community and every guest we welcome is invited to explore the history of the family, the house and the location.
