Scottish Borders Restaurant with Rooms hits Gold

A Scottish Borders business, Windlestraw Lodge in Walkerburn, has come out shining, receiving a Four Star Gold Award under VisitScotland’s Quality Assurance scheme which recognises exceptional hospitality and service.

The coveted Gold Star accolade was launched by VisitScotland to highlight establishments within the Quality Assurance scheme who have gone the extra mile to exceed customer expectations.

Often seen as front line ambassadors for Scotland’s tourism industry, the recipients display genuine enthusiasm for the hospitality they offer.  These establishments show a realcommitment to service and customer care in everything they do from the welcome and friendliness on arrival, to the quality of the food, and the final farewell.

Alan & Julie Reid, owners of Windlestraw Lodge said:
“We are thrilled to have achieved VisitScotland’s Gold Star Status.  Windlestraw Lodge is a small, special place, where guests are made to feel they are being welcomed into a private home – informal, yet still maintaining great service with a relaxed friendly ambience.”

Sandi Hellowell, VisitScotland’s Regional Director, said:
“Alan and Julie have always been totally focused on providing a quality experience to their customers in everything that they do.

“I’m therefore delighted that the hard work and dedication of Windlestraw Lodge is being recognised and rewarded in this way. Working together, we sell the Borders to the world, bringing thousands of visitors and millions of pounds to the local economy and restaurants and accommodation providers have a very important role to play in that equation.
