Fishing on the Tweed
Windlestraw Lodge is an ideal base for your summer trout and autumn salmon fishing on the Upper Tweed.
We offer permits for winter grayling fishing on the Tweed from January to end of March at £5 per rod, per day, as well as permits for fishing Tweed for trout during the spring and summer months, along with fish on nearby reservoirs. For more information on the fishing, please contact us.
- Trout fishing on the Tweed £8 per day or £40 for the season.
- Reservoir fishing £10 per day or £25 per week.
Salmon fishing
Salmon fishing is best purchased from Fish Tweed and the upper beats are best fished in October and November. The upper Tweed beats all fished very well last season with a clean 10lb salmon caught off Traquair beat by myself - a good introduction after fishing the lower beats for many years.
Windlestraw can offer the facilities listed below as well as all the comforts of a private house with a superb restaurant and wine list.
Fishing facilities:
- Rod room.
- Drying facilities.
- Private car parking.
The rooms at the front of the house have a view of the Tweed and our sun lounge has spectacular views down the Tweed Valley.
Enjoy your day
Windlestraw Lodge can also arrange special pampered days for the ladies at Stobo Castle or we can arrange a visit to our local beauty therapist, Susie Orr in Walkerburn.
If the river goes out of sorts it is not usually for long, but excellent walking, golfing, clay pigeon shooting and leisure facilities are all on our doorstep.
Traditional and gourmet packed lunches can be provided and after a day on the river, log fires awaits you in the lounge and dining room, together with exceptional cuisine, a fabulous range of fine wine, whiskies and cognac.
